40th Anniversary

Remarkably the Sheffield Open Heart club, founded to support heart surgery patients at the Northern General Hospital, has now been running for 40 years. It started in November 1984 by a group of patients in collaboration with professional staff from the Hospital. Below is a report by Ian Prior our Social Secretary on the celebratory lunch that was held to mark the occasion.

Happy 40th Anniversary Birthday Party

On the 12th November 2024 fifty-four of our Members, Volunteers and Ward Staff, both past and present, gathered at The Niagara Club in Sheffield to help celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the foundation of SHOC with a most magnificent buffet lunch.

Some of our invited guests were unable to attend due to the needs of the Chesterman Wards so several bags of sandwiches were taken down to the Wards so they wouldn’t miss out.

I must mention Sally’s Anniversary cake which was delightful and up to the standard we have come to expect of her baking.

Thank you to all that came making the Celebration go extremely well.”
