SHOC regularly ask staff for suggestions about new equipment and recently the idea of some “Dementia Clocks” was raised. These show the time, month day and date and it was felt patients coming round after heart surgery having had anaesthetic would appreciate being able to orientate themselves a little better on the ICU ward. After trialling one, staff on ICU reported that patients had appreciated the new clock and so more were ordered. These were donated in October 2024 to the ward by SHOC committee members Sally (on the right) and Ian (on the left). New water jugs were also donated at the same time.
