SOCIAL EVENINGS

SHOC members meet socially once a month (second Monday) at The Niagara Centre, Niagara Road, Wadsley Bridge, Sheffield, S6 1LU.  A number of events and outings are organised throughout the year and are supported by the attendance of the Lead Nurse, Social Worker and Ward Sister.

A raffle is held on most social evenings - proceeds being donated to Club funds.

Opportunities to socialise with ex-patients and their relatives and friends, and to speak to hospital staff who have a special role in the rehabilitation and welfare etc of patients.

On appropriate evenings, we have Carol singing, sale of harvest festival produce, as well as other events organised by the committee.

The committee, which has a maximum of 11 officers, comprising of staff, ex-patients and relatives also meets monthly.  The committee has welcomed a new initiative in the formation of a valuable link with the cardiac management team in order to develop patient partnerships with the hospital for clinical governance purposes. This is in line with the national strategies of increasing patient involvement in the running of health services.
The Annual General Meeting is arranged to take place in the summer.
